Trademark Usage Policy
How third parties may and may not reference the Capconvert, Cortex, and Sentry marks.
Capconvert Trademarks
The following are trademarks, service marks, or trade dress of Capconvert, LLC. (the “Capconvert Marks”), whether registered or unregistered:
- Capconvert and the Capconvert wordmark
- Cortex and the Cortex wordmark; the “Cortex by Capconvert” lockup
- Sentry and the Sentry wordmark when used in the search marketing context
- ARI, PAS, and other Capconvert-coined methodology names when used in connection with search marketing services
- All Capconvert and Cortex logos, brand-mark figures, color schemes, taglines, and product-page layouts
These marks identify Capconvert as the source of the underlying goods or services. Unauthorized use that is likely to cause confusion, dilution, or misappropriation is prohibited under U.S. and international trademark law.
Permitted Uses
You may use the Capconvert Marks without prior permission in the following narrow ways, provided each use is truthful, non-misleading, and does not imply endorsement, sponsorship, or partnership beyond what actually exists:
- Editorial / press / review content. News articles, reviews, opinion pieces, academic papers, and case studies referencing Capconvert by name.
- Truthful relationship statements. A customer may say “we use Cortex” or “Capconvert is our search marketing agency.”
- Plain-text linking. Use the wordmark in plain text when linking to a Capconvert page.
- Compatible-with statements. A vendor with a public integration may state their product is “compatible with Cortex” or “used with Capconvert” if accurate. Logo use requires written permission.
Attribution Rules
When you reference a Capconvert Mark in public-facing material:
- Spell “Capconvert” with a capital C followed by lowercase “apconvert” - not CapConvert, Cap Convert, capconvert, or CAPCONVERT.
- Spell “Cortex” with a capital C followed by lowercase “ortex”.
- Use as proper-noun adjectives (“the Cortex platform,” “a Capconvert engagement”), not verbs or plurals.
- Include an attribution footnote on first prominent use in long-form material: “Capconvert, Cortex, and Sentry are trademarks of Capconvert, LLC.”
Prohibited Uses
Without our prior written consent, you must not:
- register or use any domain name, social-media handle, app name, or business name that includes “capconvert,” “cortex,” “sentry by capconvert,” or any confusingly similar variation (including transliterations and intentional misspellings);
- use the Capconvert Marks in a way that suggests partnership, sponsorship, endorsement, certification, authorization, or affiliation that does not exist;
- use the Capconvert Marks for any product or service that competes with Capconvert (any search marketing intelligence engine, AI marketing recommendation system, or search marketing agency);
- modify the Capconvert or Cortex logos (recoloring, stretching, adding effects, combining with other elements, animating without consent);
- use the Capconvert Marks in connection with content that is unlawful, defamatory, discriminatory, obscene, or otherwise harmful to Capconvert’s reputation;
- use the Capconvert Marks in advertising, including paid-search keyword bidding, in a way that diverts traffic from Capconvert or violates the policies of the advertising platform you are using;
- use the Capconvert Marks in metadata (page titles, meta descriptions, alt text, social cards) of pages that are not about Capconvert in a substantive, non-misleading way;
- file for trademark, copyright, or design protection covering any Capconvert Mark or any element that is confusingly similar.
Logo Usage
Visual use of the Capconvert or Cortex logos requires prior written permission. We will generally grant permission for:
- press coverage where the logo identifies the subject of the article;
- integration partners with a signed integration agreement;
- customer case studies, with our review of the placement;
- conference and event listings where Capconvert is a speaker, sponsor, or exhibitor.
Logo files, clear-space rules, and color values are available on request from help@capconvert.com. Do not extract logos from screenshots, the marketing site, or third-party press coverage.
Cortex-Specific Trademark Restrictions
The Cortex product wordmark has additional restrictions documented at /cortex/trademark. Where this page and the Cortex page conflict for use relating to Cortex specifically, the Cortex page controls.
Enforcement
Capconvert actively monitors use of its marks. Where we determine that a third-party use is likely to cause confusion, dilute the marks, misappropriate goodwill, or violate this policy, we may demand cessation, request domain transfer, file UDRP or similar complaints, file oppositions and cancellations against conflicting trademark applications, and seek injunctive relief and damages in court. We may also pursue claims under the Lanham Act, the Anti-Cybersquatting Consumer Protection Act, state unfair competition law, and equivalent international laws.
